Cold, hot and boiling water from one appliance: tap, kettle or filter system?
Cold water from the fridge, boiling water from the kettle and filtered water from a jug: many kitchens solve it with three separate things. There are three ways to bring that together, and they differ mainly in what they ask of your kitchen.
The boiling-water tap
A boiling-water tap gives you boiling water straight from the tap. On the other hand, a boiler goes under your worktop, a fixed connection to the water supply is needed and installation is a job for a professional. Filtration is a separate module you buy in addition; the tap itself does nothing to the composition of the water.
The kettle
Cheap, portable and nobody needs to come out for it. You do wait every time, you have no cold water and nothing is filtered. Fine for tea and coffee; not as a complete solution for drinking water.
The filter system on the worktop
An appliance like the Osmora combines filtration with a choice of temperature. You fill a reservoir or optionally connect it to the water supply, and you choose the temperature on the screen — from cold to boiling. Nothing needs to be built in.
| Boiling-water tap | Kettle | Filter system | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Filters the water | Only with a separate module | No | Yes |
| Cold water | With cooling module | No | On models with cooling |
| Boiling water | Yes | Yes, after waiting | Yes |
| Fixed installation | Yes | No | Optional |
| Location | Under the worktop | On the worktop | On the worktop |
Which one suits you?
Are you renovating the kitchen anyway and want a sleek worktop? Then a built-in tap makes sense. Do you mainly drink tea and keep an eye on costs? Then the kettle is still fine. If you want filtration and a choice of temperature without renovating, an appliance on the worktop is the middle ground. Our water check walks you through that trade-off.
Veelgestelde vragen
What is the difference with a boiling-water tap?
A boiling-water tap is permanently built in, with a boiler under the worktop and a connection to the water supply. A filter system on the worktop only needs a power socket and also filters the water.
Isn't a kettle simply enough?
For boiling water, yes. But a kettle filters nothing, gives no cold water and you wait every time until the water boils.
Do I need a plumber?
Not for the Osmora: fill it, plug it in and flush it according to the manual. A fixed water connection is optional.
How much space does it take up on the worktop?
The Osmora Premium measures 23 × 45 × 40 cm. Keep the ventilation and access to the reservoir clear.
